The Performing Right Society
Established in 1914, the essential function of the Performing Right Society (PRS) is to collect and distribute music royalties on behalf of its members, including composers, lyricists and music publishers when their music is performed or broadcast in public. By issuing Music Licences, PRS make it easy to obtain the necessary permission to lawfully play millions of songs that have been written and published by its members and those of its affiliated societies around the world. This collection of royalties is extremely important as they create a future for music by supporting creators while they continue to write.
